I am not a media outlet, but I am flabbergasted as to why this important action has not been shared throughout Texas. For the cause of ending Common Core and Cscope throughout our great state — for the children — I ask you to please share this information with your family and friends. ~ Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and yours, Stacy
Yesterday, I requested an opinion from the Attorney General regarding the use of Common Core standards in Texas public schools. In the 83rd legislative session, Representative Dan Huberty and I passed HB 462, which prohibits the State Board of Education (SBOE) from adopting Common Core standards, and school districts from using Common Core to teach the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Although our bill made it clear that Common Core has no place in Texas, I am still receiving reports of school districts using the standards. Texas has nationally recognized standards of excellence and there is no reason that any school district should violate the law to use Common Core in any way. I feel confident that the Attorney General will stand with me against this growing threat to our high state standards.
